Making safe beautiful jewellery that takes into account the wearers' health and well being of skin is even harder.
In 1985, the founders of Blomdahl Medical, Lars and Karl Blomdahl started out as a small family business in Halmstad, Sweden to develop solutions for 2 of the most major concerns at that time, nickel allergy and HIV.
Sitting in their kitchen table, they developed the first ear piercing jewellery from plastic of pure medical quality and completely nickel free.
Nickel allergy was not the only risk for those wanting to have ear piercing, Lasr and Karl also found major flaws in the ear piercing techniques and found that there should be a way to avoid the spread of blood borne infections, such as HIV and hepatitis B.
Using the standard of the health care as a role model, a new, safe and hygienic ear piercing technique known as the Blomdahl Medical Ear Piercing is developed.
Blomdahl is the first in the world to launch a sterile, disposable cassette containing a sterile ear piercing earring with earring back.
This ensures that everyone whom have their ears pierced with Blomdahl Medical Ear Piercing have peace of mind with the level of hygiene and safety standards that are set in place for your protection.
Jewellery should be both beautiful and friendly to wearers' skin and health. This is something that requires ambitious product development, precision and independent quality controls.
Besides nickel and other substances that can cause contact allergy, they also make sure to avoid toxic and carcinogenic substances, such as cadmium, lead and formaldehyde, phthalates and bisphenol A (BPA). Consequently Blomdahl's earrings are today made out of carefully selected plastic and titanium of pure medical quality.
